Continental Cup day 1 shockers

The third round of the Continental Cup proved to be wide open after first day action today (November 17).

In group D; Sheffield got escorted off the ice by the Belarussian rep Yunost Minsk losing 7-1. Victor Turkin had 2+2 for Minsk.  The other game saw Latvian hockey continue to make a statement for themselves, as Kurbads crushed Rungsted (Denmark) 8-4. Janis Sprukts had 2+1 for the Riga club.

In group E; Hungarian side DVTK Jegesmedvek Miskolc won the defensive battle against Noman Astana (Kazakstan) winning 2-1 in a shootout. Attila Pavuk had the winner for Miskolc. Elsewhere in group E, Ritten Sport shut out Grenoble 2-0. Patrick Killeen made 29 saves in the win.
