2018 World Junior Championship
USA: Very skilled and experienced team. With tons of fire power upfront, don’t give these guys a PP or they will make you pay.
Players to watch- Joseph Woll, Casey Mittelstadt, Kailer Yamamoto
Canada: This year’s stud or dud watch is the Canadians. Preseason offence has the bar set high but can they meet expectations?
Players to watch- Carter Hart, Cale Makar, Tyler Steenbergen
Finland: After a brutal tournament last year, it’s only up for the deep Fins in this year’s tourny.
Players to watch- Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Olli Juolevi, Aleksi Heponiemi
Denmark: Underdog team again, will be battling with the Slovakians for that final quarter-final position.
Players to watch- Jonas Rondbjerg, David Madsen, Malte Setkov
Slovakia: One guy, David Hrenak is a name that will have to become a household one if the Slovaks want a chance. The freshman tendy at St Cloud has been solid this season on a top end D1 team.
Players to watch- David Hrenak, Marian Studenic
Sweden: High powered and scary skilled. The Swedes are definitely a favourite in Buffalo.
Players to watch- Rasmus Dahlin, Alex Nylander, Timothy Liljegren
Russia: Bronze last year, I don’t think the Russians are anyone’s favourites to win the tournament this year, but don’t count them out.
Players to watch- German Rubtsov, Andrei Svechnikov, Vitaly Abramov
Czech Rep: Wasn’t impressed with their pre-tournament performance against Canada. Won’t be an easy tournament for the Czech’s.
Players to watch- Filip Zadina, Ostap Safin, Josef Korenar
Switzerland: Most unpredictable team in the tournament. Very smart and well positioned team, no dangerous offence or stingy defence makes them a real toss-up.
Players to watch- Philipp Kurashev, Nico Gross
Belarus: THE GOAL: try not to get relegated. Don’t sleep on the Belarussians as they look to upset the contenders.
Players to watch- Vladislav Yeryomenko, Nikita Tolopilo, Maksim Sushko
