Mid way point of the 2018 season is here & now people are starting to look at the draft a bit more seriously. Here’s our mid season report card.
Rasmus Dahlin 10/10
Kid’s a stud & guaranteed first overall.
Filip Zadina 9/10
Loved his performance at the World Juniors, will be an impressive impact player in the league.
Brady Tkachuk 8.5/10
One of the dark horses in this draft who I’m placing money on will make a few teams pissed off that they didn’t draft him in a few years.
Andrei Svechnikov 8/10
Minimal ice time in the WJC but also wasn’t mind blowing while he was on the ice. Solid Russian forward.
Adam Boqvist 7/10
Smaller D man, good with the puck. Will be a tough adjustment to the NHL though.
Isac Lundeström 7/10
Didn’t have a strong World J’s but I see Lundeström being a reliable center in the show one day and teams will be looking for that.
Jakub Skarek 7.5/10
Good size, good numbers. I’m not confident this draft will have any goalies go in the top four rounds but expect Skarek to be the first name called.
Justus Annunen 7.5/10
Underrated, unknown. Don’t expect Annunen to be the first goalie drafted but there’s a lot of unknown with this kid and his ceiling being a young huge Finnish goalie screams Rinne.
Alexis Gravel 7/10
Big goaltender, reminds me of Mason McDonald. Righty’s in the NHL seems to have worked out great so far this season…… Let’s keep the numbers at a minimum.
Jake Kucharski 6.5/10
I’m giving Kucharski a low grade based on his performance this season, but being committed for 19-20 (to Prov) he will have more time to develop. Could he be the next Jon Gillies? Well USHL to Providence and then the Flames hasn’t been a bad fit if you turn a blind eye to the injuries.
