Round 2 set for WHL Playoffs

Four Game 7’s, four series’ for the ages.

Any hockey fan who follows the dub was treated to one of the best first rounds we’ve ever seen. Portland and Victoria narrowly pulled through in Game 7, Moose Jaw barely squeaks past PA and the Swift Current Broncos send Regina into a 40+ day vacation before the Mem Cup.

Round 2:

Victoria vs Tri-City

The Royals were led by Matthew Phillips in their first series, the Flames prospect put up 16 points in the 7 game series.

The Ams had Morgan Geekie going, he buried 9 goals in a sweep of the Kelowna Rockets.

Everett vs Portland

Everett has the best goalie in the league in Carter Hart (who’s not a Flames prospect).

Portland has a ton of fire power with Cody Glass and Kieffer Bellows stepping up when needed.

Moose Jaw vs Swift Current

Justin Almeida was the Warriors go to guy against PA, when the Raiders started controlling the game, Almeida was able to come up with that big play.

Canadian hero and Swift Current’s hero Tyler Steenbergen put up 6+6 and the little Fin Aleksi Heponiemi had 10 apples.

Lethbridge vs Brandon

16 points in five games wasn’t a bad way to kick off ploffs for Brad Morrison, the NYR fourth rounder is a real threat to the Wheaties.

Dylan Myskiw stepped in after Logan Thompson got shelled in the first two games. Myskiw was phenomenal, putting up a .928 Sv% and 2.54 GAA in four straight wins over the cats.
