1. Buffalo- Rasmus Dahlin
Best defensemen to come into the draft in the last 20 years. There’s a reason he is being compared to Nick Lidstrom.
2. Carolina- Andrei Svechnikov
40 goals in 44 games. An absolute sniper who can score many different ways. Is he closer to Vladimir Tarasenko or Nail Yakupov?
3. Montreal- Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Biggest riser in a draft that seemed to lack a franchise centremen. Does a little bit of everything and Montreal will be drafting on need.
4. Ottawa- Noah Dobson
After trading Karlsson, the Senators choose the dman that has the most potential out of the remaining players.
5. Arizona- Brady Tkachuk
Father played for them, Brother plays in the same conference, gets to protect Keller and Strome. Perfect fit for a player who does a little bit of everything.
6. Detroit- Filip Zadina
Liked Hughes here but Detroit can’t pass up on a scorer who was supposed to go in the top 3. They have needs up front and on the blue line but Zadina is the right pick
7. Vancouver- Evan Bouchard
I’d trade this pick for Hanifin but Bouchard is the most pro ready and can step into the Canucks lineup right away. Hopefully this London player works out better than the last one has so far (Juolevi)
8. Chicago- Oliver Wahlstrom
Great hands and can score. Will be given a chance in Chicago right away given their cap issues.
9. New York Rangers- Quinn Hughes
Great skating defensemen who plays in Michigan. His brother Jack will be the 1st pick next year.
10. Edmonton- Adam Boqvist
Should trade this pick for immediate help but Boqvist is what the Oilers have been lacking, a right shot offensive defensemen who will Quarterback their poor powerplay
11. New York Islanders- Ty Smith
Slid a little bit in the draft but the Islanders are thin for Defense prospects and Smith is good at both ends of the ice
12. New York Islanders- Joe Veleno
Regardless of Tavares, the Islanders need a Centre prospect. Veleno had exceptional status and Is a good offensive playmaker.
13. Dallas- Joel Farabee
2 way player who is committed to college. Dallas is thin for Forward prospects after missing on a couple (Nichuskin, Dickinson).
14. Philadelphia- Barrett Hayton
Played on the best team in the CHL and wasn’t their top offensive option but still had 60 points. Will translate nicely to a good top 9 forward.
15. Florida- Bode Wilde
Big right shot defensemen which is what everyone needs these days, can play at both ends. Will be interesting to see what his draft team wants him to do after decomitting from Michigan…Saginaw has his OHL rights
