Champions Hockey League exposes weak competition

There was no shortage in goals during the first week of Champions Hockey League play.

My favourite part about the CHL is it exposes the bottom end teams and really can prove how different the leagues are.

ie: Poland and GKS Tychy are as bad as expected. Some how they kept up with IFK Helsinki, but don’t kid yourselves, if not for John Murray making 58 saves they lose by 6-7.

Now how about Oceláři Třinec getting a little cocky after a solid performance last season. These guys looked lost on the ice, a 6-1 spanking by Djurgården and an 8-2 pumbling by Tappara Tampere really takes the wind out of those Czech sails.

Rouen was expected to suck and the French club didn’t prove anyone wrong and TPS Turku was a dumpster fire that should be an embarrassment to the Liiga.

I was impressed by Neman Grodno holding their own, Bolzano gutting out a couple dubs and the Aalborg Pirates sticking it to me by gritting out an OT W.
