Nate Schmidt ladies and gentleman.
Schmidt, who’s still serving a 20 game suspension for violating the NHL’s performance-enhancing drug policy has just signed his big-ticket with the Vegas Golden Knights.
The 27-year-old’s new contract is a six-year $35.7 million deal, worth $5.95 mil per year.
Now I know he didn’t “intentionally” take any substances and what not, but still. This guys getting paaaaaaaaaid after a sick playoff run last season, while currently being suspended this season for doing drugs. Take that National Hockey League.
Schmidt had five goals, 31 assists and 19 penalty minutes in 76 games last year. He chipped in three goals and four assists in 20 playoff games for the expansion VGK, who lost to the Caps in the Cup Final.
The former St. Cloud Cathedral stud can return to the Golden Knights on Nov.18.
