Jack Hughes, USA- The spotlight is on Jack Hughes. Presumably will be the #1 pick in the 2019 NHL draft. Unlike past top picks, Hughes is playing for the US NTDP which is a step lower than College and the CHL. He’ll be USA’s top forward and brother Quinn (VAN) will be the go to defensemen. Being compared to Patrick Kane.
Kaapo Kakko, Finland- Consensus #2 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Big winger who will play in Finland’s top 6. Eeli Tolvanen (NSH) will be getting the top matchups so maybe Kakko can feed off that… left handed Patrik Laine??
Filip Zadina, Czech- The Red Wings 6th overall pick who is currently playing in the AHL. Lit up the tournament last year and will look to do so again with Martin Necas.
Martin Necas, Czech- Like Zadina, plays in the AHL (Charlotte) and is the passer where Zadina is more of the shooter. I have the Czech playing for a medal.
Adam Boqvist, Sweden- Top pick for the Chicago Blackhawks but nobody’s really sure if he’s a true defensemen. There were Erik Karlsson comparisons but apparently there is even less defense somehow.
Alex Alexeyev, Russia- the last pick in the 2018 1st round to Washington who plays in Red Deer. Will be Russia’s #1 defensemen, still a bit raw but a very good player.
