The Toronto Maple Leafs have locked up Auston Matthews to five-year extension.
$11.634 million per year. That’s where the Leafs and Matthews signed on the dotted line at.
Matthews is fourth on the team in scoring with 23 goals and 23 assists (46 points), and he’s battled the injury bug, missing 14 games already this season.
No one is questioning if he’s a star player or not, but now Kyle Dubas is going to have to work some serious magic to get the rest of his team signed (or traded).
I’m going to leave this blog open-ended for you here:
Did Toronto need John Tavares for seven-years at $77-million?
And what number does Mitch Marner’s contract negotiation start with?
