Playoffs in the KHL start on Monday (Feb.25), here’s some games and players to watch!
CSKA (1) vs Vityaz (8)
SKA Saint Petersburg (2) vs Spartak Moscow (7)
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (3) vs HC Sochi (6)
Jokerit (Helsinki) (4) vs HC Dynamo Moscow (5)
Avtomobilist Ekaterinburg (1) vs Traktor Chelyabinsk (8)
Barys Astana (2) vs Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (7)
Metallurg Magnitogorsk (3) vs Salavat Yulaev (Ufa) (6)
Avangard Omsk (4) vs Ak Bars Kazan (5)
Nikita Gusev ran away with the league scoring title, putting up 81 points in 62 games (12 more than 2nd place Nigel Dawes).
Vegas bust Vadim Shipachyov (20-48-68) has been good for Dynamo this season and will be key to them making a run.
Minnesota Wild prospect Kirill Kaprizov (21) had 30 goals this season for CSKA Moscow.
Rigged or not, Igor Shestyorkin’s 1.11 GAA and .953 SV% are incredible numbers for the New York Rangers 4th rounder in 2014. Same goes for Ilya Sorokin (1.16 GAA – .940 SV%).
If you’re looking to watch elite Canadians, look no further than Metallurg Magnitogorsk with Matt Ellison, Brandon Kozun in Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, or Linden Vey in CSKA.
CSKA and SKA are locks in the west to make it out, as for picking a champ, I guess we’ll just see what owner pays the ref more (right Vityaz?).
