It’s the night everyone dreams about as a kid.
Game 7, Stanley Cup Final, one win away from lifting the greatest trophy of all time, or one foot in the crease away from the biggest devastation in your life.
If history has taught us anything, it’s not to take nights like these for granted.
I’ll tell you for free, every single one of those players on the ice grew up dreaming about this scenario, which is why every hit, shot, save and bounce will have you on the edge of your seat.
We know the goalies are going to lock it down, but here’s how I’d break down this one.
For the Blues, they need to come out firing and banging. An early goal or two would allow them to continue their suffocating style of play that has led to nine road wins in the ploffs already. ROR and Vlad have to be their best players. Moments like these are when you need a hero and the Blues need one more than the Bruins.
For Boston, withstand the early pressure and capitalize on your opportunities. If they can make St. Louis pay for taking penalties, this one’s over. Another key is how much gas is left in the tank of the dmen? If Boston wants to shut the door, they can’t risk getting caught in their own zone for 2+ minutes at a time.
None the less, this is going to be the most exciting game of the year and if I can add one thing…. pleeeeeeeeeeease make it go to overtime.
