Janner’s Mock Draft

NHL Entry Draft day is here!

Here’s how I think the Top 10 in this year’s event will go.

#1 – New Jersey

It’s a no brainer here, they’ll take Jack Hughes. Highest ceiling of anyone in the Draft.

#2 – New York

Kaapo Kakko really sealed his spot at two for me with his great World Championships. He is an NHL ready player.

#3 – Chicago

Bowen Byram. It’s not very often you get to take a highly skilled, great puck moving dman like Byram and teams would most likely regret passing on him.

#4 – Colorado

I’m kind of on the fence here, but Alex Turcotte would likely be my pick. Another highly talented player up the middle that will only help the Avs forward depth.

#5 – LA

Dylan Cozens, purely based on his two-way game. Better than most of the centres in the draft defensively and has more offensive output goal wise.

#6 – Detroit

Another USA hockey product (surprise) is Trevor Zegras. Very versatile and has been a huge reason for a lot of the international success the American have been having.

#7 – Buffalo

Philip Broberg. The Sabres could use some scoring, but defence wins championships. You can never be short on big, smooth skating, hard passing defenceman.

#8 – Edmonton

Kirby Dach. Local kid, sures up the middle to allow room for a high talent trade down the road. He’s big, fast and good with the puck. Has superstar potential, but let’s not jump the gun.

#9 – Anaheim

Hello Matthew Boldy. A 6’2 left winger who will be NHL ready after a year of college. The Ducks need everything (like the Knicks), but Boldy could be a great piece to build around.

#10 – Vancouver

Now I think this is the steal of the draft, but if Cole Caufield is on the board at number 10, you’re the stupidest GM in the history of hockey not to choose him. All this kid does is fill the net and he’s going to be a 50 goal scorer playing with Elias.

None the less, it’s a great day to be a hockey fan, but let’s remember they’re still kids. Whatever happens, happens.
